POET & EDUCATOR
NEW BOOK
Strip Poker
STRIP POKER is a collection of poems that explores dating, not dating, gambling, addiction, and entanglement. In a landscape of never-ending nights, energy drinks, Chipotle, Nike sweats, purified bottled water, clean drugs, and longing, the book navigates nocturnal life, secrets, rumors, betrayal, and self-discovery. Illustrated by Madison Lecher and risograph-printed and hand-sewn.

You taste like rail vodka & sugar-free Redbull, Dove bodywash, snow.
You taste like a loose crystal of molly in the blunt, Chipotle queso.

Reviews
“Rebeca Felix’s debut collection STRIP POKER flirts, seethes, antes time and again. These poems know intimately what it means to fuck around and find out, to adore and abhor the beloved, to edge the fine line separating control and release. Felix’s collection moves seamlessly from the classroom to the club, peopled with characters intent on health and destruction in equal turn. STRIP POKER exists in the liminality between the then and the now, placing each of us somewhere amidst a chord progression designed to make people fall in love and a house just waiting to be burned down.”

“Strip Poker seems to be asking: is this good for me or is it bad? I can say with certainty, this collection is very, very good for me and you and the guy who won’t kiss you after he fucks you. Rebeca Felix is my favorite poet, and these poems show us why.”
